Lake Grove

The west end of the lake, with a main street of its own — often described as a small town inside Lake Oswego.

Guide
No. 02

Lake Grove was platted in 1912 on the western end of Oswego Lake, near the rail line that became part of the “Red Electric” passenger service. Its post office, first named Waluga, took the name Lake Grove in 1923, and a 1959 vote of Oswego and Lake Grove residents created the City of Lake Oswego.

Boones Ferry Road is still the spine of the neighborhood. The Lake Grove Village Center, adopted by the City in 2008, runs close to a mile of Boones Ferry frontage from Madrona Street to Kruse Way — shops, restaurants and services within reach of most homes.

Lake Grove has its own elementary school, its own ZIP code and its own swim park, which gives it the separate-town feel people describe. As with the rest of Lake Oswego, lake access depends on the individual property’s deeded easement.
